Dr. Junas Soy, after serving the people of Rourkela for long 34 years superannuated on 31st December 2007. Dr. Soy was given a warm farewell from Ot staff and departmental staff from Eye Department of IGH.

2nd December-FOGSI Gyan Yatra

The FOGSI Gyan Yatra and Annual Conference of Rourkela Obestetrics and Gynaecological Society was held in IGH on 2nd December 2007. The conference was inaugurated by Dr. D N Mohapatra, Director I/C, SAIL, RSP and was graced by luminaries like Dr. P K Shah and Dr. P C Mohapatra apart from many others from the State.

Farewell to Dr. Snehaprava Mohapatra

Overtly affectionate and ever-smiling Dr. S P Mohapatra belonged to the breed of healers whose body language spoke of the compassion for patients. For such basic qualities she was popularly called Sneha Apa by most of us. Married to Dr. K S Naik- a poet and doctor Sneha Apa probably got an opportunity to be softer. Though both of them settle down in Rourkela,in her superannuating, IGH lost a compassionate and caring doctor.

On our invitation, Dr. S Patnaik, Consultant Gastro-enterologist from Kothari Medical Centre, Kolkata conducted an ERCP workshop in IGH on 21st November 2007. He also talked on "Therapeutic Endoscopy" for the benefit of DNB candidates. Here he is seen being felicitated by our Director I/C Dr. D N Mohapatra.

National Newborn Week

A week long programme to promote the well being of newborn babies wss conducted by the Family Welfare Department of IGH in active support from Department of Pediatrics and Coporate Social Rsponsibility. It was inaugurated by the Director I/C of Medical & Health Services on 15th November 2007. Here village level health workers are being refreshed about their knowledge on new born babies by Dr. N C Nanda, Head of Pediatrics. The programme was conducted in villages on other days of the week.

The State Conference of API was held in Bhanja Bhavan, Rourkela with active co-operation from Rourkela Steel Plant and Ispat General Hospital on 10th & 11th November 2007. In the Inaugural function Sri B N Singh, Managing Director, RSP was the Chief Guest and Dr. D N Mohapatra, Director I/C of Medical & Health Services, RSP were the Chief Guest & Guest of Honour respectively, The Organising Scretary and Joint Secretary for the Conference were Dr. S Mohapatra and Dr. Anil K Dutt. Dr. Sk Mishra was the Chairman for the Scientific session.

Special Award to Intensive Care Staff

There have been many patients who have been saved by the staff of this ICU in IGH. For the first time, with the intiative of Dr. Sanjib K Mohanty, Jt. Director I/C of ICU, the staff was given a special award by our Director I/C Dr. D N Mohapatra in a solemn function conducted by the Personel Dept. in presence of Senior doctors of IGH including the Director Dr. P K Rath on 12th October 2007 in the Director's Conference Hall.
