Women's health- cancer & prevention

An awareness programme on women health ( Cancer & its prevention) was conducted at OHSC Training Hall on 16th September 2013. Inaugurating the programme Mr. RN Panda DGM (PL-Works) told about the importance of the Health awareness programme, the importance of the topics chosen like cancer and its prevention, contraceptives and general health of women employees.

Dr (Mrs). M Mohanty Jt. Director (O&G) briefly told about the relationship between the women health & environment in any industries.

Dr CM Rao Jt. Director (Pulm. Medicine) I/C OHSC & Sec-22 Hospital, addressed the gathering & highlighted the national scenario regarding the male female ratio in India. As Cervical Cancer is the most preventable cancer, so by health education it can be prevented easily.

Among the three speakers Dr (Mrs). M Mohanty Jt. Director (O&G) told about adolescence, safe motherhood and menopausal symptoms & its life style modification.Dr.(Mrs) R Mohapatra Sr. Dy. Director (Family Welfare) stressed upon different uses of contraceptive methods & its importance in family planning.

Dr. (Mrs) Indra Mishra told that cervical and breast cancer are most common and preventable cancer in India. Different screening test for early detection of cancer are available if detected early can be treated effectively with very good outcome.

Welcoming the gathering Dr. T Misra Sr.Dy.Director I/C, OHSC quoted the sayings of Ex- UN Secy. General Boutros Boutros Ghali and also told that women in employment outside the home frequently bear a double burden which aggravate the health, hence their health awareness is very much essential.
