A towering figure in eighties and ninties of the last century in Rourkela when he served Ispat General Hospital and mainly headed its Casuality Department, Dr. Purna Chandra Kar passed away after protracted ill health on 13th december 2010 at his residence. Dr. Kar was a founder of the IMA in Rourkela and was a very able organiser and leader during his days in IGH. He superannuated in 1990 and later met with an accident where he suffered grivieous head injuries which he survived. Unfortunately he remained confined to bed most of the time. In his demise Rourkela and IGH lost one of their favoured leaders who always wanted medicare of excellent quality to prevail in Rourkela.
The Director of IGH Dr. SK Mishra and President, IMA Dr. Sanjib Mohanty placed wreaths on Dr. Kar's mortal remians and a Condolence meeting was conducted in IGH. May his soul remain in peace.
