Adieu-Dr. JKP and Sister Amita
After putting up service for this hospital for 35 years Dr. J K Pattanaik superannuated on 31st May 2006. Slightly built, JKP, as he was popularlarly called, was giant of a histopathologist who pioneered many new methods and researches in IGH. A delightful teacher he made me-like bhakua medical graduates grasp the complicated subjects easily. He was a pioneer in popularising Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) in the state of Orissa and was one of the founder memebers along with his good friend and compatriot Dr. B S Das for the research in the field of Malaria in IGH. But what stands out in this diminutive figure is a superb human being. A lover of songs JKP always delighted his friends and colleagues with his delightful vocals during any get-together. Seen here for the farewel function in IGH library with his wife Mrs. S Pattanaik.
