Dr. Mrs. Bindulata Acharya was a prominent doctor in Obst. & Gyn. department in IGH during the eighties and nineties of the last century. A smiling and jovial person she always drew her patients, co-workers and colleagues close to her heart.Dr. Bindulata completed her MBBS in 1969 and joined RSP and hence IGH on 7th May 1969. During her tenure here, she completed her post-graduate diploma in maternity and child welfare and rendered yomen service in the National Family Planning Programme. She superannuated on 28th February 1995 and stayed back in Rourkela along with her husband who also had superannuated from RSP as a Deputy General Manager.Her husband had predeceased her and therefore she was staying with her son and daughter-in-law in her Koelnagar residence. She passed away under tragic circumstances on 13th June 2012. Though her son is a doctor, he has juvenile diabetes and had been to a higher medical centre in Bengaluru along with his wife for the treatment of his non-healing ulcer in the leg. During that period when Dr.(Mrs.) Acharya was staying alone in her residence and was found dead in bed on 14th June 2012.
