Obituary- Dr. Rajani Mohapatra

Dr. Rajani Mohapatra, a distinguished memeber of IGH family left for her heavenly abode on 14th June 2006 at Mumbai leaving behind her family, relations, friends and colleagues in unsurmountable grief and sorrow. Born on 2nd June 1967, this valiant young physician, a loving and caring mother of twins- a son and a daughter reading now in class-IV, has been fighting hard with life and death for the last four years.After completing her post graduation in Internal Medicine she joined IGH fraternity on 20th October 1998 and has endeared herself to colleagues and patients during her stay with us.
We pray God to rest her soul in peace and provide enough courage to the bereaved family memebers to overcome the sad and untimely loss.

dr ranji mohapatra was a bold lady, she was not afraid of any thing in life, ever smiling.A nice little lady doctor who was liked by her patients as well as her seniors.She was fond of eating and towards her last part of her life she became a philosopher.She has left behind two beautiful twins for her family. let her soul rest in peace.

DNB Training for Doctors at IGH
Ispat General Hospital, Rourkela, a 685 bedded multidisciplinary hospital of Rourkela
Steel Plant, SAIL is recognized by the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi to
offer DNB training, equivalent to MD, MS, in Anesthesia, Pediatrics, General
Surgery Obstetrics and Gynecology and Family Medicine.
It has also applied for accreditation in additional specialties in General Medicine,
Orthopedics and Respiratory Medicine.
Stipend: Rs. 9500.00, 10,000.00 and 10,500.00 per month during first, second and
third year respectively. ( likely to be revised)
Walk in interviews will be held to select the DNB trainees
Venue: office of the Director (M&HS), Ispat General Hospital
Time: 3 P.M. to 5 P.M.
Date: 21st of June, July and August ,2006
Eligible candidates are requested to attend the interview alongwith original and
photocopies of all relevant documents, two passport size photographs and NOC where
applicable.

Extradural Haematoma in brain

Close view of same EDH. A young engeineer in Bangalore met with an accident while joining an IT job. Was treated there but when he returned back home to collect his bag and baggage to join the job, he had symptoms that led to a fresh CT brain and was evacuated by our neuro-surgeon.

Also retiring on the same day was Sieter Amita Das. She joined IGH as a trainee nurse way back in 1964 and left this day as Matron of IGH. Mostly posted in operation theathres, Sister Amita is well-known for maintaining OT discipline and helping young surgeons learn in an atmosphere of ease. Seen here with her husband Dr. S Das who superannuated as the Head of Public Helth Division of Rourkela Steel Plant only a couple of years back and Dr. P K Rath, Joint Director on the dias.

Adieu-Dr. JKP and Sister Amita

After putting up service for this hospital for 35 years Dr. J K Pattanaik superannuated on 31st May 2006. Slightly built, JKP, as he was popularlarly called, was giant of a histopathologist who pioneered many new methods and researches in IGH. A delightful teacher he made me-like bhakua medical graduates grasp the complicated subjects easily. He was a pioneer in popularising Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) in the state of Orissa and was one of the founder memebers along with his good friend and compatriot Dr. B S Das for the research in the field of Malaria in IGH. But what stands out in this diminutive figure is a superb human being. A lover of songs JKP always delighted his friends and colleagues with his delightful vocals during any get-together.
